Officers and members of Zion Missionary Baptist Church are busy planning the 10th pastoral anniversary of their pastor.
The Rev. John H. Cornelius has been the pastor since 2000. He was formerly an associate pastor at New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Winston-Salem and was the field director of the High Point Missionary and Educational Association for four years before coming to Mount Airy.
The anniversary celebration will be held Saturday and Sunday, beginning on Saturday with the Rev. Dr. Samuel Cornelius, pastor of New Jerusalem, kicking off the occasion. He will deliver the opening sermon and his members will accompany him.
On Sunday, the morning message will be brought by Pastor Lawrence Carvana of Friendship Baptist Church of Winston-Salem. Then, Sunday afternoon, the Rev. Thomas Stowe Jr., pastor of Messiah Missionary Baptist Church in Pilot Mountain and also interim pastor of Second Calvary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, will speak.
The public is invited to share in the celebration.
