The group will look for local children to fill those roles, with auditions and cast selection the first day, rehearsals throughout the week, and a public performance presented on Saturday, July 17.
All Missoula shows are original adaptations of classic children’s stories and fairytales — a twist on the classic stories that you know and love. This year, the play is Robinson Crusoe. Also included in the residency are three enrichment workshops presented by the Tour Actor/Directors. Creativity, social skills, goal achievement, communication skills and self-esteem are all characteristics that are taught through the participation in this unique, educational project.
For those involved, this will be a week of drama, music, games, crafts, and more activities.
The rehearsals and other activities will be daily from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Andy Griffith Playhouse, with the performance slated July 17 at 2 p.m. at the playhouse.
Cost for the week is $150, which includes lunch and additional workshops. Some scholarship funds are available from the Kester Sink Scholarship Endowment. For more info or to enroll, contact the Surry Arts Council at 786-7998 or visit www.surryarts.org.
