n A felonious larceny involving cash being taken from a local business is under investigation by the Mount Airy Police Department. The crime was discovered Sunday at Tarheel Converter and Core on Hay Street, with a “known” suspect said to have entered the building and removed an undisclosed sum of money.

n Another break-in was reported Monday at Steam World Inc. on Starlite Road. An unknown tool was used to gain entry and remove property, but an inventory of items taken was not available when the incident was reported.

n Fashion Floors, a business on North Andy Griffith Parkway, was the victim of a break-in Sunday, which involved the theft of a Hewlett-Packard laptop computer valued at $900. A glass door was broken to gain entry.

n Katrina Ann Archuleta, who lives on Mid Lane, told police last Friday that she is the victim of fraud involving a financial transaction card. Someone used Archuleta’s debit card to obtain $360 in cash from an unidentified business at 840 W. Pine St., police records show.

n Patrick Donohoe, 42, of 863 Willow St., has been charged with two felonies stemming from an alleged attack on a neighbor late last week. Robert William Blackwell, also of Willow Street, told police that Donohoe forcibly entered his apartment on June 10 and assaulted him with a chair, causing severe lacerations. Donohoe subsequently was accused of first-degree burglary and assault with a deadly weapon, inflicting serious injury, and confined in the Surry County Jail in lieu of a $25,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in District Court on Aug. 19.

All the unsolved crimes listed remain open for further investigation.
