Today marks the first week of the Surry Arts Council’s StoryTales series, free live children’s theater that runs all summer long at Blackmon Amphitheatre.
StoryTales will be held every Tuesday through August 3, at 7 p.m. Mark and Linda Donnell and their cast of familiar storybook characters present live interactive children’s theater.
Every week will feature a different children’s story and characters. Today StoryTales will feature “The Three Little Pigs,” on June 15 “Sleeping Beauty” will be featured, on June 22 will be “Jack and the Bean Stalk,” and on June 29 “Hansel and Gretal.”
The rest of the schedule will be released later. In the event of rain, the shows will be held at the Downtown Cinema on Main Street.
Admission is free. This family program is supported in part by the Cindi and Andy Griffith Endowment.
The Surry Arts Council also has many other programs for youth including the week-long day camp Arts Alive. The theme this year is “Celebrate Mount Airy” the first session for ages 3-5 will be held June 14-17, and the second session for ages 6-12 will be held June 21-24.
