Celebrate Memorial Day all weekend long at the Surry Arts Council.

On Thursday, beach music band The Embers will perform at 7:30 p.m. at the Blackmon Amphitheatre.

One of the most popular and active groups in the country, The Embers have been playing a mix of rhythm and blues, heart and soul for decades. Tickets are $10 or free with the Surry Arts Council season pass.

On Friday, The Fantastic Shakers will take the stage of the Blackmon Amphitheatre, starting at 7:30 p.m.. Tickets are $10 or free with the Surry Arts Council season pass.

In the event of rain, the bands will perform at the Downtown Cinema Theatre (142 North Main Street, Mount Airy).

On Saturday, at 9 p.m., and Sunday, at 2 p.m., Andy Griffith’s “A Face in the Crowd” will be screened at the Downtown Cinema Theatre. This classic 1957 film was Andy Griffith’s big screen debut.

Tickets are $5 or free with the Surry Arts Council Season Pass.
