MOUNT AIRY — Mrs. Sue Irene Morrison Nelson, 97, of 129 Lovill Ave., Mount Airy, widow of Mr. Gus Nelson passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at Twelve Oaks. She was born Feb. 14, 1913, in Patrick County, Va., to the late Charles W. and Mary Martin Morrison. She worked for the civil service at Langley Air Force Base during World War II and was retired from the Fairfax County School System in Va. She was a member of the Grace Moravian Church and the Senior Friends at Grace Moravian. Surviving are eight nieces and nephews and a spouse, Mickey Murib of Winston-Salem, Nelda Thomas, Mary and David Jenkins, Alice Morrison, Mike Morrison, Eddie Morrison , Tommy Morrison and Vickie Cooke all of Mount Airy; and several great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Nelson was preceded in death by two sisters, Ethel Johnson and Alice Gardner; and three brothers, Pete Morrison, Tom Morrison and Leonard “Monk” Morrison. A memorial graveside service will be held at God’s Acre Friday, May 21, 2010, at 2 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Tony Hayworth. The family will receive friends at the home of David and Mary Jenkins at 1542 Forrest Drive, Mount Airy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Moravian Church In Mount Airy.
