PILOT MOUNTAIN — Deputies with the Surry County Sheriff’s Office arrested two men last week in connection with a convenience store break-in.
Sheriff Graham Atkinson said deputies received a call last week that the Shamrock BP gas station on Cook School Road had been broken into. While officers were taking a report at the location, they received a call that a suspicious vehicle was at the Neighbors Fuel Center on U.S. 52.
Deputies responded to the call about the suspicious vehicle and were able to locate a car with two occupants. After interviewing the two men, detectives charged the men with crimes at the first store and an attempted break-in at Neighbors. Atkinson said the men stole five packs of cigarettes worth $25 total from the BP station. Nothing was stolen from Neighbors.
Those arrested were Ricky Dale Sehen, 46, of 336 Needham Road, Pilot Mountain, and Denny Gray Burkhart, 59, of 668 Orchard View Drive, Mount Airy. They were each charged with felony breaking and entering, felony larceny and felony attempted breaking and entering. The bond for each man was set at $10,000.
