The Surry Arts Council is partnering with the North Carolina Arts Council and the Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County to provide two grants to Surry County non-profit organizations and individual artists.

On Tuesday, the Surry Arts Council is hosting grant workshops to assist applicants interested in applying for the North Carolina Arts Council Grassroots Arts Program subgrant or the Regional Artist Project Grant.

The N.C. Arts Council Grassroots Arts Program subgrant is available to non-profit organizations whose purpose is to promote and develop diverse cultural arts programming in Surry County. Funding priority is given to qualified arts organizations, arts in education programs, and other community organizations that provide arts programs in the county. The Grassroots Arts Program Grant Workshop will be held to assist interested applicants in preparing competitive grants. New applicants are especially encouraged to attend this workshop on Tuesday 4 p.m. at the Center.

Administrated through the Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County, the Regional Artist Project Grant provides financial support to committed, gifted individual artists and small, unincorporated groups of collaborating artists.

The grant is awarded to projects that promise to advance the career of the artist or groups of artists in the following disciplines: music composition, film/video, literature/playwriting, choreography/dance, and visual arts/crafts.

Guidelines and applications are available online at www.intothearts.org. An information session for interested Surry County applicants will be held at the Surry Arts Council on Tuesday, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the SAC.

Application forms and guidelines for both grants are available from the Surry Arts Council. For questions or more information on either grant or workshop, contact the Surry Arts Council at call 786-7998 or e-mail arts@surryarts.org.
