Mount Airy resident Wendy Carriker was recently named president-elect as president of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs—North Carolina for the 2010-2012 administration.
She was elected to the post on April 24 during the 108th Annual Convention of the federation at the Crabtree Marriot in Raleigh.
She served first vice president from 2008-2010, second vice president from 2006-2008 and federation director of juniors from 2000-2002. She is a member and past president of the Woman’s Club of Mount Airy and the Woman’s League of Mount Airy. She is a former member and past president of the Mount Airy Junior Woman’s Club. She also has been awarded the Minnie Lou Parker Creech Outstanding Clubwoman of the Year for GFWC-NC and is an Honorary Life Member.
Carriker also serves as the chairman of the Mount Airy City Schools Board of Education and has served on this board in an elected capacity since 1996.
