STUART, Va. — An elderly Dobson man died after an accidental fall Thursday afternoon at Primland Resort in Patrick County, officials say.
Fred McKinley Sidden, 82, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Patrick Sheriff Dan Smith.
Smith said that Sidden was standing on the ledge of an overlook having his picture made when he apparently lost his balance and fell more than 100 feet.
“No foul play was involved,” said the sheriff, who added, “please remember the family in your prayers.”
The Meadows of Dan Fire Department, JEB Stuart Rescue Squad, Patrick County Emergency Management, Vesta Rescue Squad, Primland staff members and Patrick County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene of the incident.
