ARARAT — Mrs. Maude Irene Mikels Reynolds, 89, of Ararat, left her earthly home on Tuesday, April 6, 2010, to enter her heavenly home after an extended illness. Mrs. Reynolds was born Jan. 23, 1921, in Surry County to John Harrison and Louisa Owens Mikels. She was a dedicated Christian and faithful member of Rock Hill Baptist Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher for 30 years until her health declined. Mrs. Reynolds was married 64 years to the late Bartie Coleman Reynolds. She was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother. Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Edward Cave of Dobson, Lucy Angel of Pilot Mountain, Darlene and Leon Haynes of Mount Airy, Kaye and Grayson Simmons of Dobson, Faye and Tim Stanley of Elkin, Kathy and Keff Jordon of Statesville and Frankie and Mike Simmons of Ararat; sons and daughters-in-law, Billy and Lydia Reynolds of Mount Airy and George Reynolds of Ararat; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, with two on the way; and a sister and brother-in-law, Josephine and Clifton Coe of Ararat. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Reynolds was preceded in death by her husband, Bartie Coleman Reynolds; a granddaughter, Cynthia Annette Cave; two sisters, Lillian Mikels and Mary Lou McGee; and brothers, Johnny Mickels and Mack Mickels. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2010, at Rock Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dwight Sechrist and the Rev. Lee Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
