Three men are being held under massive bonds in the Surry County Jail on cocaine-related charges police say stemmed from citizen complaints.

The three all reside at 531 Circle Drive in Mount Airy and were arrested during a joint narcotics operation by city police and the Surry County Sheriff’s Office. The two agencies have pooled their resources to investigate drug trafficking in the Mount Airy area for the past four months.

As part of that effort, charges were announced Friday against Ismael Antonio Garcia-Ibarra, 28; Martin Tome Sixtega, 22; and Martin Herrera Soto, 29.

Pointing out that the arrests of the Circle Drive residents resulted from citizen complaints in the Mount Airy community, officers say more than a half-pound of cocaine was seized from the three during a four-month period.

Garcia-Ibarra is charged with 20 counts of trafficking in cocaine, four counts of conspiracy to traffic in cocaine and one count each of maintaining a drug dwelling and maintaining a drug vehicle.

Sixtega is accused of four counts of conspiracy to traffick in cocaine, while Soto is facing violations of possession of cocaine with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver and maintaining a drug dwelling.

Garcia-Ibarra is being held under a $250,000 secured bond and Sixtega in lieu of a $150,000 secured bond. The bond for Soto was set at $100,000, secured.

The three men are slated to appear in Surry District Court on April 28.
