ARARAT, Va. — A planning meeting will be held on Tuesday to discuss a new festival that will be called the Ararat Heritage and Music Jamboree to be held on May 22.

The Ararat Tourism Association met last month and elected David Marshall as the president. Nichole Jenkins is the vice president and Janet Epperson is the treasurer of the newly formed group.

According to group member Mary Hill, the organization is looking for input in the new festival from anyone, not just those living in the Ararat area. Hill said everyone is invited to the meeting that will be held at the Ararat Ruritan Building at 7 p.m.

This new festival will be an extension of the already-existing Day in the Park at Dan River Park, which has been held for the past five years. The event will start off with a parade that will end up at the park where the festival will be held. A cruise-in is also planned as a part of the festival, Hill said.

For more information about the group call David Marshall at (276) 251-1999.
