On Feb. 21st, the News ran my letter to the editor asking 10 questions of our political candidates. I urged these candidates to contact me. The News has my information. At present, I have had one person in the Democratic party tell me that the Republican candidates for state senate would not know what my questions meant. Mr. Johnson, it seems to me that you are already walking a thin line with your “those people” comment on the 2-1-1 issue. Just because you have an R behind your name, don’t think people are going to take for granted that you are a constitutionalist conservative. Pres. Obama stood up day after day campaigning in a moderate leadership environment. Yet he is a far left IDEALIST (one whose conduct is influenced by ideals that often conflict with practical consideration; one who is unrealist and impractical: American Heritage College Dictionary) who is a ruler instead of a leader. It is so against the constitution to mandate that people buy health insurance or anything else for that matter. But not to buy will lead to punishment in the way of fines and taxes. (if passed). Young people, maybe they would rather use that premium money to buy a BMW. I know that I am not going to buy something that I don’t want.
If we don’t look back into history, we are bound to repeat it. If the people had taken the time to look into our presidents past, looked at his voting record and listened to his speeches, I don’t think he ever would have been elected. I am thrilled that the American people have opened their eyes and are looking into the past of our candidates. That past is a window into the future.
For the record, I have heard from Sen. Burr’s office. One of his staffers did call me and I had all my questions answered. I am still wanting to get something more from Sen. Hagan’s office other than the same email time after time. She thanks me for my support. If she had actually read my emails, she would know that I don’t have an ounce of support for her. Each email I have received from her is word for word the same.
When you run for office and are fortunate enough to win the primary, you best not take anything for granted, regardless being a D, R or I. There are millions of people around the country just like me who are going to hold your feet to the fire. No more thinking the American people are stupid and that we don’t know anything. The days of “blind eyes” are over.
In closing, I am still waiting for a phone call or an email from all our candidates, local, state and federal. Once again, Mr. Editor, thank you for the space.
