PILOT MOUNTAIN — Mr. James Epperson, 72, of Pilot Mountain, passed away at his home on Tuesday, March 2, 2010, with his family by his side. Mr. Epperson was born in Surry County on Nov. 7, 1937, to the late James and Sarah Scott Epperson. Mr. Epperson worked and retired after 33 years from Hastings Corporation in King and was of the Methodist faith. Mr. Epperson is survived by his wife, Carol J. Epperson; two sons, Kenneth James “Kenny” Epperson of Boonville and Teddy Davis of Pilot Mountain; one daughter-in-law, Anita Davis of Pilot Mountain; two brothers, Sammy Epperson of Mount Airy and Scotty Epperson of Shoals; two sisters, Nancy Moore of Pilot Mountain and Ingrid Broyhill of Mount Airy; and four grandchildren, Hannah, Holly, Austin and Alex. Mr. Epperson was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Deanna Epperson; and one son, Wayne Davis. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2010, at Cox-Needham Chapel at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Charles Stevens, the Rev. Jimmy Cain and the Rev. Robbie Vance officiating with interment to follow in the Shoals Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the funeral at Cox-Needham Funeral Home.
