The administration and staff of B.H. Tharrington Primary School and Mount Airy City Schools are opening registration for the 2010-11 school year beginning March 2 and 3.

The school serves students in grades pre-kindergarten through second grade and is registering for all grades. There are limited spaces available for students entering the 4-year-old program.

Families interested in enrolling their students in kindergarten or pre-kindergarten classes at Tharrington for the 2010-11 school year are invited to a registration session on March 2-3 from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. One or both parents should attend registration.

In order to register a child, parents must provide a birth certificate, social security card, immunization record and proof of address.

Appointments for kindergarten screening and parent orientation will be scheduled for May. All children entering kindergarten for the 2010-11 school year must be 5 years of age on or before Aug. 31.

Eligible 4-year-olds who are not enrolled in a preschool or day care program may register for the pre-kindergarten/More at Four program. Pre-kindergarten registrants will be screened in June. Qualified pre-schoolers must be 4 years of age on or before Aug. 31.
