The Surry County Sheriff’s Office is looking for two Pilot Mountain residents who allegedly pretended to be police officers in order to steal prescription drugs and guns from a Pinnacle man.

Sheriff Graham Atkinson said the pair went to a home on John Mickles Road around 11 p.m. last Thursday. The man knocked on the residence door and told the resident and his grandson that there were reports about drug dealing from the residence.

“The grandson opened the door, and (the man) was standing there holding a gun. He was wearing a dark toboggan and shirt with the word ‘POLICE’ on them. He told the homeowner he needed to look at his pills, which were painkillers and Valium, and the victim told the man that they were in his gun safe,” said Atkinson.

While the victim took the man to his gun safe, his grandson called his father to tell him what was going on. The impersonator took three bottles of prescription medication and seven long guns that were in the safe, and he also used a zip tie to bind the homeowner’s hands.

“He said he was going to his vehicle to run the serial numbers on the guns,” Atkinson said, “then he didn’t come back.”

In the meantime, the victim’s son was on his way to the residence and saw a Toyota pickup truck on the side of the road with a woman in the driver’s seat. He stopped and asked if she needed assistance and was told it was “police business” and that he should go on. He also saw the man in the police clothing and believed he was a police officer. The son reached his father’s residence and heard what had happened, then the Surry County Sheriff’s Office was contacted.

The victim’s son was able to look at mug shots and identify the woman as Summer Denise Eanes, 29, of 1993 Jessup Grove Church Road. The victim and his grandson were then able to identify her boyfriend, Christopher William Fosner, 36, as the man who allegedly had claimed to be a police officer.

Officers served a search warrant at the couple’s residence on Saturday but were unable to locate them or recover any evidence.

Atkinson said Detective James Turner has obtained warrants charging both Fosner and Eanes with robbery with a dangerous weapon, impersonating a law enforcement officer, felony larceny, larceny of firearms and first-degree burglary. Fosner also is charged with two counts of assault by pointing a gun.

The sheriff is asking anyone who knows about the whereabouts of Fosner and Eanes to contact the Surry County Sheriff’s Office at 401-8900.

The sheriff added that Fosner and Eanes should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone coming in contact with them should contact the sheriff’s office immediately.
