Things continue to shake out in the sports world following last weekend’s winter blast and the likelihood of more inclement weather on the way this weekend.

Due to the possibility of precipitation Friday and Saturday, the Northwest 1A/2A Wrestling Conference championship meet has been canceled, with seeding for possible playoff berths being allocated through overall winning percentage.

The NCHSAA regional swim meet, scheduled for this Saturday in Charlotte, is set to go on as planned, but local teams will be leaving tomorrow afternoon in an effort to beat the weather.

According to area high school athletic directors, the upcoming basketball schedule is also up in the air. All area teams have games scheduled for Saturday, but with the possibility of the bad weather, those games could be pushed to later next week. However, the Northwest 1A/2A conference tournament must be tipped-off by Feb. 15 to have enough time to be completed in compliance with the NCHSAA rules for the state tournament.
