The case remains open for further investigation.

- An armed robbery was reported Wednesday morning in which a Newsome Street woman had her purse stolen by a man who displayed a knife. Robin Ring Jones told police that she was approached by the man outside her residence at Riverhill Apartments and he demanded money while brandishing the weapon. The robber grabbed Jones’ purse and fled on foot.

In addition to the purse and wallet, the loss involved a flip-style cell phone and case, $30 in cash, a driver’s license and Social Security card and other items. A description was not given for the robber, and no arrest had been made as of Friday afternoon, police said.
