PILOT MOUNTAIN — Mrs. Beulah Jessup Brinkley, 96, of Pilot Mountain, widow of the late Coley R. Brinkley, passed away early Thursday morning, Jan. 7, 2010, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Brinkley was born in Surry County on Feb. 26, 1913, to the late Fletcher and Rachel Cook Jessup. Mrs. Brinkley was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and neighbor. Beulah loved her family and all those who knew her will truly miss her. She was a long-time member of Jessup Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Brinkley is survived by five children, Dan (Shirley) Brinkley, the Rev. Gene (Rhonda) Brinkley and Stan (Carolyn) Brinkley, all of Pilot Mountain, and Julia Vipperman and Sue (Billy) Cook, both of Pilot Mountain; one daughter-in-law, Pat Brinkley of Pilot Mountain; one sister, Marie Hampton of Richmond, Va.; 18 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Brinkley was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Pauline Brinkley; one daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Dan Perryman; one son-in-law, Oza Vipperman; one grandson, Andy Vipperman; six brothers; and four sisters. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, at Simmons Grove Baptist Church at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Gene Brinkley and the Rev. Wes Mosteller officiating with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Simmons Grove Baptist Church and other times at the children’s home.
