The two-story brick home, located at 1866 Haystack Road, is one of the three homes that are outside the Mount Airy city limits on the tour this year.
The home has a big southern porch and many modern features including a hip roof, a three-car garage and a screened-in back porch with a breathtaking view of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
The four bedroom, four-and-a-half-bath home features an open floor plan with a stacked stone fireplace.
The Hulls are both graduates of North Surry High School and were married in 2000. The have two little girls, Cassie, 5 and Claire 2.
The Christmas tree in the living room sparkles with silver touches. The girls’ rooms will feature pink and purple trees.
Andy is an engineer with Surry Telephone and Kelly is a pharmacist at Gates Pharmacy.
“I changed the tree in the playroom from a toy tree to a UNC Tarheel tree this week. I graduated from UNC in 1997 and 2001, with my bachelor’s degree and my doctor of pharmacy degree, so I thought it was fitting,” Kelly Hull said.
To get to the home from Mount Airy, take N.C. 89 west, turn left on Oak Grove Church Road. Go almost two miles, then turn right on Haystack Road. The home is about three-tenths of a mile on the right.
Tickets for the event are $10 and the tour is self-guided. Tickets are available at the Greater Mount Airy Chamber of Commerce, at the Gertrude Smith House, by calling Betty Wright at 786-4512, or at the individual’s homes on the days of the tours.
