n Zoe Ward Fell, 38, of 186 Lower Park Lane, was arrested Saturday on larceny and other charges after an incident at Food Lion in the Granite Town Center shopping center. After she was suspected of taking items from the store and employees approached her, police say Fell fled on foot and left the parking lot in a 1995 Ford Ranger pickup, which subsequently was stopped on nearby Welch Road by Officer Kelly Hiatt.
She admitted to stealing steaks, batteries and body spray valued altogether at $42, based on arrest records, and was taken into custody on charges of larceny, driving after consuming alcohol and driving while license revoked. Fell was confined in the Surry County Jail under a $1,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in District Court on Dec. 14. A passenger in the vehicle, Jeffery O’Neal Davis, 44, of 463 White Pines Country Club Road, was cited for allegedly having an open container of alcohol and possession of drug paraphernalia (a wooden smoking pipe containing marijuana residue).
n A theft said to involve a total loss of $631 was reported Saturday at the Wrenn Avenue residence of Juan Gabriel Arellano, where a tool box was removed containing drill bits, a socket set, a pliers set, hammers and a nylon pouch with pliers and a wirecutter. The case remains open for further investigation.
n Virgie Goins Pack, an East Pine Street resident, told police Saturday that a wallet was taken from her purse while she was in Dollar General on Rockford Street. Along with $137 in cash, the wallet contained a Social Security card, driver’s license and other items. No suspect was identified in the case that remains open for further investigation.
n A city man was held without bond Saturday after being arrested for allegedly violating a domestic-violence protection order by going to the residence of Samantha Griffin on Lovill Street. Kenneth Murphy Robertson, 33, of 155 Maple St., who also was charged with second-degree trespassing and possession of marijuana, was confined in the Surry County Jail. He is scheduled to appear in District Court on Dec. 1.
n Mildred Irene McHone of Bitting Avenue reported Friday that various prescription medication had been stolen or lost from her home. The case remains open for further investigation.
n Police responded to Mullins Pawn Shop on West Pine Street Friday in reference to a stolen firearm, and confirmed that a black Remington 6mm rifle with a scope had been stolen. The rifle, valued at $400, was recovered and the case remains open for further investigation.
