To the editor,
The recent death of a friend brings the Health Care Reform issue close to home. The friend thought he had a simple, though nagging, health problem that he could treat without seeing a physician. He had no health insurance. When his condition did not improve after many months, he saw a doctor. The diagnosis: Stage 4 cancer. He was dead within three months. The issue is simple: Can we afford to avail medicine to those who are now falling through the cracks? Is it a moral issue, or is a fiscal one?
