MOUNT AIRY — Ms. Tammy Renee Sawyers Newman, 46, of 920 Newsome St., Mount Airy, went home to be with the Lord and her family who preceded her in death Thursday morning, Nov. 12, 2009, at her home. She was born Sept. 5, 1963, in Surry County to Barbara McMillian Sawyers Edmonds and the late James Henry Sawyers. She was a homemaker and was a member of Woodland Baptist Church. Ms. Newman is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Sheena and Dusty Slate of Mount Airy and Kaley Newman and friend, Travis Childress of the home; a grandson, Bryson Slate of Mount Airy; parents, Barbara M. and Michael “Mike” Edmonds of Mount Airy; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Christy Sawyers, Richard and Heather Sawyers, Jody and Hannah Edmonds and Kevin and Brandi Edmonds all of Mount Airy; fiancé and son, Jeff Bearden and Nick Bearden of King; special nieces and nephew, Lindsay, Jade and J.D. Sawyers. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel of Mount Airy conducted by the Rev. Kelly Boyd. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Moody Funeral Services, P.O.
