Benefits and Fundraisers
- Flippin Memorial Baptist Church is having its second annual bazaar on Saturday in the church fellowship hall from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be baked goods, canned foods, dried apples, produce, crafts, home décor, new items, plants and sausage biscuits, hot dogs, drinks and desserts along with a yard sale.
- First United Methodist Church of Pilot Mountain is having its second annual dinner theater on Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. featuring “Pilot Mountain’s Got Talent.” Tickets are $10 each or a table for seven is $70. On the menu is pork loin, baked potato, green beans, coleslaw, roll and dessert. All money raised will benefit summer youth mission trips. - The Fairview United Methodist Church Women, 3692 Quaker Church Road, will have a fall festival bazaar on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Breakfast and lunch will be available. There will also be baked goods, canned goods, chicken pies, independent vendors and a yard sale. Proceeds will go to local mission projects.
- Salem United Methodist Church, Wards Gap Road, Mount Airy, will have a country ham supper on Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. On the menu is country ham, baked apples, stewed potatoes, slaw, gravy, roll, drink and dessert. Turkey will also be served. Take-outs are available. The cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children. Proceeds go to benefit church funds.
- New Hope United Methodist Church will be having a chicken stew and hot dog supper at the Longhill Community Building, Pilot Mountain, on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. Donations only. Proceeds will go to the church building fund.
- Mount Airy First Pentecostal Holiness Church will be having a yard sale and breakfast on Saturday starting at 7 a.m.
- The Pine Hill Friends Bazaar will be held Saturday starting at 7 a.m. Breakfast and lunch will be served. Handmade crafts, home-baked goods, fresh vegetables, canned goods, silent auction and a hand-painted church 2010 calendar will all be available at this event.
- Bannertown Baptist Church will have Operation Christmas Child Monday through Nov. 22. The shoebox schedule is Monday through Thursday, 1 to 3 p.m.; Friday, 1 to 7 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sunday, 1 to 6 p.m.; and Monday 8 to 10 a.m. For more information, call Ronnie Simpson at 789-2505 or the church office at 786-5407.
- Salem United Methodist Church will be having a dinner and concert featuring Soldiers Again on Nov. 21. Dinner will be served from 5 to 6:30 p.m. with turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, peas, cranberry salad, rolls, dessert, tea and coffee. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. Proceeds will go to the church building fund.
- Wards Gap Church will be having a bake sale on Nov. 21 at Mayberry Mall. There will be all types of cakes, pies, fried pies, cupcakes, brownies, fudge, pumpkin rolls, biscuits and more. Proceeds will go to church projects.
- The 16th annual Joanne Jordan Memorial Meal Project will be held at First Baptist Church of Mount Airy on Nov. 25. The Emmanuel Sunday School Class will be delivering turkey meals to the less fortunate families in the area. Each meal consists of a 10- to 12-pound turkey, dressing, gravy, sweet potatoes, macaroni and cheese, cranberry sauce, dinner rolls and a pumpkin pie. The amount of food should feed a family of four to five people. A suggested donation is $33. Church volunteers are welcome to deliver. For more information, call the church at 786-5185.
- Mallalieu-Jones United Methodist Church, 231 N. South St., Mount Airy, will be holding a fish-fry fundraiser. The cost is $4 for a fish sandwich and a drink. This fundraiser will be held every Friday.

- Grace Moravian Church will have a communion service during the 10 a.m. worship service on Sunday and will be celebrating its Thanksgiving Lovefeast during the 10 a.m. worship service on Nov. 22.

- A gospel singing performed by Phil Tilley will be held at Westfield Baptist Church on Nov. 22 at 6 p.m. A love offering will be taken for autism therapy expenses for Dylan Arrington, 5-year-old son of Scott and Chrissy Arrington. Light refreshments will be served.
- The Harvesters Quartet will be in concert at Mount Airy Wesleyan Church, 2063 S. Main St., on Nov. 22 at 5:30 p.m. The concert is free, but a love offering for the quartet will be taken. For more information, call the church office at 786-7250.

- The Cody Kirsch Family Team for Relay for Life will be sponsoring a “No Room at the Inn” at First Baptist Church on Dec. 5 and 12 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This is a large display of nativity scenes, more than 200. Some are from other countries, collector’s items, family heirlooms, handmade and special. Donations will be accepted. All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society. Church groups are invited. - Come create crafts for the Christmas season at Haymore Baptist Church. Make Christmas snowflakes, Chrismon angels, sequined ornaments, Chrismon cross and a Christmas tree. - The First Baptist Church Feeding Friends Soup Kitchen provides a free hot meal to families and friends in need every Thursday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The church is between Elm and Galloway streets at 714 N. Main St. Parking is available behind First Baptist off Arch Street. The feeding friends dinner is served in the fellowship hall in the building closest to downtown, with signs available to guide visitors.
- A free “soup kitchen” is available on the last Thursday of each month in the Piney Grove Baptist Church fellowship hall from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come as they are with no strings attached. The church is at 278 Piney Grove Road, which can be reached at 356-4196.
- Food assistance for the hungry in the community is provided each Thursday at 8:30 a.m. by Trinity Episcopal Church.
- Meetings for those healing from a broken marriage, each Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Genesis Full Gospel Church on Sparger Road. Everyone is invited, with more information available at 351-4718.

- GriefShare, a bi-weekly video seminar featuring experts on grief-recovery topics which is geared toward grieving persons or their supporters in a group-participation environment, is held on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 6:15 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 314 S. - Livingwater Baptist Church, 125 Starlight Road, Mount Airy, is launching a new ministry. The King James Bible RadioNetwork is being broadcast on WGIW 89.7 in Pilot Mountain.
