You may recall that last week I had just found out that a coworker took out a warrant for my arrest. The goal is to raise $2,400 in bail money which will help the Muscular Dystrophy Association send three kids to camp.
I know have a Web site set up through the MDA Web site where people can go and either pledge a donation and then be billed for the amount due, or can pay by credit card to automatically make a donation toward my bail.
The place to visit, which also features what I found to be a pretty humorous “Breaking News” video about my arrest, is https://www.joinmda.org/MyLock up/MyHomepage/t abid/112236/Participant/wbyerlywood/Default.aspx.
I have already had a couple of people make donations toward my bail, so with a few weeks to raise money, I’m hopeful I will be able to raise the $2,400 I need.
I’ve never raised that much money in one lump sum. Through years of fundraising at school for chorus trips and for nonprofit causes, I’m sure I’ve raised much more than the couple thousand I hope for this time, but to try to raise that much at one time is intimidating.
But I will face my intimidation head-on.
Even if I don’t meet my goal, I hope to make a great dent in it.
Whether donating to help my bail, or the bail of one of my fellow inmates, I want to say thank you for helping support a good cause.
