Dustin and Jennifer Mabe Slate of Kingsport, Tenn., announce the birth of a daughter, Parker Claire, on Sept. 18, weighing 7 pounds, 3 ounces.
The baby has a brother, Samuel Freeman Slate. The grandparents are Kenneth and Daisy Slate of Mount Airy, Mary Mabe and Mike Farmer of Pilot Mountain and Rick and Karen Mabe of Johnson City, Tenn.

Kristopher and Jennifer Sumner Laws, 532 Orchard View Drive, Mount Airy, announce the birth of a daughter, Covia Cemanthia, on Aug. 24 at Northern Hospital of Surry County, weighing 6 pounds, 5.8 ounces.
The baby has a sister, Amber Tate, 18.
The grandparents are Gary and Joan Crotts and Larry and Belinda Sumner, all of Mount Airy. The great-grandparents are Charles and Dora Sumner of Mount Airy and the late Thomas “Josh” and Mary Cemanthia Hicks, and the late Clifford and Lila Triscovia Doss and Virginia Laws of Dobson.
