Rodgers has a busy job right here in Mount Airy overseeing the operations of the local Salvation Army, but he and others from the region saw people in need, so they volunteered to take supplies to the area and spend several days working in the relief efforts there.
We’ve often talked of hometown hospitality in this column, and this is an example of taking that hospitality to those elsewhere.

The chamber is in the midst of a busy time of year, with the recent Mayberry Days and the upcoming Autumn Leaves Festival, yet that organization found time to hold this important event to help city residents become better informed on the candidates.
