- A Mount Airy woman has been charged with illegally obtaining drugs from a local pharmacy, according to city police. Kristi Lynn Needham, 27, of 118 Sideview Lane, was arrested Tuesday evening after a brief investigation at Wally’s Pharmacy on Old Rockford Street.

Needham is charged with three felonies: obtaining a controlled substance by misrepresenting oneself, obtaining a controlled substance by fraud or forgery and attempting to obtain a controlled substance by fraud or forgery. She also was found to be wanted by Surry County authorities on outstanding warrants for unspecified charges. Needham was held in the Surry County Jail under a $10,000 secured bond and is facing a Nov. 3 appearance in District Court.

- Devin Ryan Moncus, 25, of 1240 Newsome St., was arrested Wednesday on a charge of attempted breaking and entering. Moncus allegedly used an unknown object to break a window at the home of his mother, also of Newsome Street, on Sept. 13, according to police records. The damage was put at $50. Moncus also was wanted on a recent order for arrest for allegedly failing to appear in court. He was jailed in lieu of a $500 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Surry District Court on Oct. 12.

- A larceny was reported Tuesday at the home of Kathryn Mays Pruitt on Grace Street, where several types of medication were discovered missing. The case remains open for further investigation.

- Bottom Dollar Food on West Pine Street was the scene of another theft Tuesday. Someone took an unknown quantity of items from the store without paying. The case remains open for further investigation.
