Wes Brown — The massive freshman made a game-changing interception right before halftime Friday against Trinity. The 6-foot-1, 230-pounder picked off a pass and rumbled 53 yards, setting up a score that brought the Golden Eagles within two points.
Josh LeCrone — LeCrone made a hard charge on a tipped pass and his diving effort was just enough to get his arms under the football for the pick.
North Surry
Joston Phipps — Phipps carried the bulk of the load for North Surry, finishing the night with 47 yards on 21 rushes. He also had the longest play of the night for North with a 12-yard run in a 19-0 loss at Ashe County.
Mount Airy
Luke Wheeler — The senior has made a name for himself as a big play threat and did not disappoint during a 47-22 beating of 3A Parkwood last week. Wheeler finished with 102 yards on eight carries and had three catches for 42 yards while finding the endzone three times.
Andy Temoney — “Boo” once again carried the bulk of the offensive touches for the Granite Bears and continued his strong senior season by scoring three touchdowns in Mount Airy’s 47-22 victory over Parkwood.
