A pretty game it was not, with Ashe fumbling three times and North giving up four turnovers (two interceptions, two fumbles lost).
Offensively the Greyhounds had obvious trouble, amassing just 43 yards total on 52 plays. Defensively wasn’t much better, with Ashe putting up 241 yards on 62 plays.
Aaron Scott led the way for the Huskies on the ground, running 14 times for 108 yards and one score. Jeren Holman also had 60 yards on 21 carries for one touchdown.
Joston Phipps carried the bulk of the load for North Surry, finishing the night with 47 yards on 21 rushes. He also had the longest play of the night for North with a 12 yard run.
Recently injured quarterback Tanner Hiatt saw his first action of the season, starting slow with three-of-seven passing for 11 yards.
Overall four different players threw passes for the Greyhounds for a total of 18 yards.
Ashe County’s Morgan Burks picked off the Greyhounds twice, while Seth Cox had eight tackles with three going for a North Surry loss.
The loss drops North Surry to 0-4 overall with the Greyhounds heading into their bye week before opening conference play against Bishop McGuinness at home.
