RONDA — The Mount Airy boys soccer team picked up its first win of the season Thursday with a 3-0 victory over East Wilkes.

Jesus Carreon scored first off a penalty kick in the 28th minute. That was followed two minutes later by another score, this one by Matus Kriska. The final Granite Bears score came in the 58th minute when Chase Pilcher found the net off a Torrance Hamilton assist.

Mount Airy (1-1) played solid defense as well. The Granite Bears allowed East Wilkes to get off just nine shots. Goal keeper Eduardo Garcia saved all seven shots he faced.

Mount Airy takes on non-conference Elkin Tuesday.
