PILOT MOUNTAIN — Mr. Frank D. Durham, 76, of Pilot Mountain, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009, at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Durham was born in Stokes County on Nov. 7, 1932, to the late Rossie Lee and Carrie Elizabeth Dunman Durham. Mr. Durham was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Frank was a avid fox hunter and loved going hunting with his son, Dwight, and friends, Gray Joyce, Scott Bowman and Bill McGee. Frank also loved working in his yard and garden. He was a Christian man and a member of Brown Mountain Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife, Gail Jessup Barbee Durham of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Dwight and Kim Durham of Pilot Mountain, David and Patti Durham of King and Todd and Melanie Barbee of Lewisville; three daughters and sons-in-law, Frankie and Gene Taylor, Patsy and Mark Spencer and Tammy and Mark Rodgers, all of Pilot Mountain; 11 grandchildren, Billie Lawson, Jeremy (Kendra) Durham, Courtney Spencer (fiancé Mike Dusharm), Brandon Durham, Carrie R. Thompson (Dennis), Elizabeth Darisse, James Rodgers, Josh Darisse (Samantha), Natalie and Rachel Durham and Madeleine Barbee; two great-granddaughters, Mackenzie Lawson and Cheyenne Thompson; one brother, Reid and Avalene Durham of Westfield; and four sisters, Lolene and Marion Vaden, Ruby Shelton and Laura Lee Shelton, all of Westfield, and Clara Priola of Illinois. Mr. Durham was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ralph Durham; and one sister, Mozelle Cook. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Brown Mountain Baptist Church with Bro. Ricky Rogers and the Rev. Eddie Carter officiating with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The Durham family will receive friends on Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cox-Needham Funeral Home.
