GOINS

MOUNT AIRY — Mrs. Susie Helen Montgomery Goins, 102, of 1329 Lorraine Smith Road, Mount Airy, died Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at her home. She was born Jan. 6, 1907, in Patrick County, Va., to the late Matt Madison and Amanda Shelor Montgomery. Mrs. Goins was a retired restaurant worker and a member of Word of God Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughters, Hazel Hunter of Mount Airy and Mary Wall of Mount Airy; 28 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; two great-great-great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Gladys Hill of Ramseur. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Goins was preceded in death by her husband, Sam P. Goins; daughters, Shirley Bryant Rogers and Elva Jean Parker; sons, S.A. Goins and Floyd Goins; and several brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 31, 2009, at 4 p.m. at Friendly Chapel Church, Pilot Mountain, conducted by Brother Don Collins and Brother J.K. Faries with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 30, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Friendly Chapel Church, Pilot Mountain.
