Pilot ladies take to the course

PILOT MOUNTAIN — The Pilot Knob Park Ladies Invitational was held July 14 at Pilot Knob Park Country Club boasting 83 players from 11 golf clubs.

Honorary guests for the day were Clara Nelson and Peggy Phillips.

The first-place win went to Linda Sheets, Myra Kirby, Linda Pegram and Pam Marion, who won shooting 107 on the 18-hole course with a 52 on the front nine and 55 on the back nine.

Second place was earned by Clara Wilkerson, Pattie Sink, Cindy Swaim and Betty McCandless, who posted a score of 111.

Tie breakers were used to determine third, fourth and fifth places, which all shot 114. The team of Linda Gardner, Ann Hauser, Jenny Braswell and Mildred Miller took third; Kathy Devore, Andrea Abernathy, Mary Anne Utley and Diane Kramer came in fourth; and Margarett Arrington, Patricia Glisson, Ellen Bobbitt and Kay Fletcher placed fifth.

Golfers also were awarded for accurate drive, longest drive and closest to pin on three different holes.

Janice Driscoll took home the prize for accurate drive, while Kim McKeel had the longest drive. Closest to pin on hole 2 was Margarett Arrington, on hole 6 was Trish Golding and on hole 17 was Linda Sheets.
