The Mount Airy City Board of Education will have a meeting at 6:30 p.m. today at the school system’s central office at 130 Rawley Ave.
At the meeting, Dr. Darrin Hartness, superintendent, plans to update the board on the state budget’s process to date. He also plans to talk to them about the discussion held at Monday night’s Surry County Board of Commissioners meeting concerning school construction and a renovation proposal.
Hartness will also make the board aware of upcoming events in the school system including open house at the schools and freshman orientation.
The board will also spend time discussing the board goals set at its retreat last month as well as the 800 policy series which deals with financial policies.
Hartness will discuss the school system’s Adequate Yearly Progress, or AYP, results which will be released this morning.
Board Chair Wendy Carriker will ask the board to set meeting dates for the coming year as well as topics for discussion at the meetings during the community linkage portion.
