CANA, Va. — Mrs. Viola Ellen “Porkey” Dawson Jones, 57, of 1841 Meadowbrook Road, Cana, passed away Tuesday morning, July 14, 2009, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C. Mrs. Jones was born Nov. 6, 1951, in Carroll County to Josie Ellen Pedigo McGee and the late Theodore Dalfred “Ted” Dawson. She was a cashier at Wal-Mart in Galax and attended Crooked Oak Moravian Church. She is survived by her husband, Timothy Edward Jones of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Christopher Lee and Angela Jones of Cana and Justin Corey Jones of the home; a grandson, Cody Lee Jones of Cana; stepgrandson, Brandon Jacob Davis of Cana; one stepgreat-grandson, Ethen Jacob Davis; her mother and stepfather, Ellen and T.R. McGee of Cana; a sister and brother-in-law, Kim and Joe Hall of Cana; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Nelson and Janie Dawson and Ted and Debbie Dawson, all of Cana, and Mark and Sheila Smith of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2009, at Moody Funeral Home with burial to follow in The Jesse Jones Family Cemetery in Cana. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
