To the Editor,
In regard to your article “Bassett embezzler gets jail sentence,” I think that it is a shame that the people who have been convicted of felony embezzling (stealing money) were so lightly punished. 15 months in a county jail with a work release program and small restitution fees is not a sentence equal to the crime.
If they had been a person robbing a store of a couple hundred dollars they would have received a much longer sentence in a state prison. I think white collar crimes should receive sentences equal to other felony crimes.
