Kenneth Huffman, a disabled veteran, will present a lecture entitled “The Christian Foundations of America” Saturday evening.

The lecture, which runs about one hour and ten minutes, will take place at Faith Tabernacle E. P. Church on Franklin Road at 7 p.m. and is free to the public.

Huffman hopes that by attending his lecture, people will see that America was founded on Judeo-Christian principles. He plans to supply facts and information in order to reach this end.

“I’m hoping the main thing they will take is that Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, John Adams and even Benjamin Franklin, and the men and women who helped them, that the nation was founded on Judeo-Christian principles and we seem to be flying away from that,” he said.

Huffman emphasized that this will not be a political lecture and any opinions he expresses will be made clear as opinion and not fact. He said he plans to deal mostly with historical fact.

He plans to present documents such as the Northwest Ordinance as well as symbols relating to God and the Bible like those that appear on currency and in Supreme Court decisions. The decisions will be ones that uphold Christian values as well as those that do not.

“I will go into actual quotes from the Founding Fathers showing they had deep religious beliefs,” he said.

This will not be the only time Huffman is presenting his lecture to the public. All additional lectures will also be given free of charge. The pastor of Faith Tabernacle suggested Saturday as the first date of the lecture and Huffman agreed that it would be appropriate.

“I will be doing it repeatedly. It will not be a one-shot affair,” he said. “I’ve been searching for something to do. I was inspired by divine reason I believe.”
