Most pet owners treat their four-legged friends like children, however, sometimes when a pet owner goes away on a trip, it’s hard to find someone to take as good care of the pet as the owner does.
That’s where Lucky Bones Country Club hopes to help. The facility is a specially designed pet resort that can let owners go away knowing their pet is being well cared for.
Lucky Bones Country Club, 680 Riverside Drive, opened the first of June by Shelby Boles. Boles said that word about her new business is starting to get around and business is picking up.
Boles said she has always had a love for animals. She told her husband that when her children were grown she wanted to start a business like Lucky Bones. Now that her daughter is married and living in Charlotte and her son is off to college, she embarked on the project that has fulfilled her dreams.
LBCC offers Doggy Daycare for people who just need to have their dog boarded during the day. The service includes playtime outdoors as well as cooling off time indoors with food, water and treats.
“Socialization of our friends is very important in helping them to lead a happy and healthy life. It has also been proven that daycare is one of the alleviations of separation anxiety, excessive destruction and shyness. That is why this is such a great treat for your favorite canine,” Boles said.
During daycare, pets are allowed more than six hours of playtime outside in the 3,000-plus-square-foot play area that is has toys and baby pools full of water to allow pets to splash around and cool off.
“Here your dog enjoy daycare with lots of their four-legged friends while you are away at work instead of spending a lonely day at home alone. Our trained staff makes sure that your canine gets all the kisses, playtime and belly rubs they need,” Boles said.
For the traveler that is planning to be out of town for a while, the resort offers 10 clubhouse suites. The pampered pet not only gets to live in an air-conditioned room, but he or she has its own toddler bed, a TV and a Web cam for parents who want to check on their K-9 friends while they are away.
Clubhouse villas are also available. Villas include a kuranda bed, cozy blankets and daycare with other dogs.
Lucky Bones also offers accommodations for felines in their kitty condo area, which is completely separate from the K-9 area.
“Whether viewing the aquarium or being rocked to sleep by one of our staff members, your feline will experience vacation in a whole new light,” Boles said.
The resort also offers spa services for the pampered pet. A groomer is available by appointment. The “Day at the Spa” package includes a bath, nail trim and ear cleaning. Haircuts and nail polishing are also offered.
Boles said when she first opened up, a man called her and thought the place was a bar.
“He said he could sure use a beer. I told him that the only way I could help him was if he wanted water out of a bowl,” she said with a chuckle.
LBCC also offers the unique service of doggie birthday parties. They send out invitations to four of the pet’s best doggie buddies and their owners for a party with a special doggie cake and some treats for the grown-ups as well.
For pet owners who need to have their dogs or puppies trained, LBCC offers that service as well. Classes for older dogs will be held on Thursdays from 7 to 8 p.m. and will cost $120 for five weeks of training. Puppy classes are on Tuesdays from 7 to 8 p.m. and will cost $100 for five weeks of training. Registration is still underway.
Boles’ love of animals is evident in every detail of the new business.
“Your pet’s happiness is our mission,” Boles said.
