The sky over Mount Airy will light up with fireworks once again this year with the annual Fourth of July celebration to be held at Veterans Park.

In a joint effort between the Surry Sunrise Rotary and Mount Airy Rotary clubs, a fireworks display and two bands will entertain crowds on July 4.

The park will open at 5 p.m. and musical performances will start at 5:30 p.m. The Klassix and Broken Wheel will be performing until 8 p.m.

Fireworks will begin at dusk, between 9:15 and 9:30 p.m., said Sunrise Rotary member and event organizer Jeff Coutu.

Coutu said the event is free, but Rotarians will be on hand to collect can donations and monetary donations that will go to local food banks.
