What a great time my grandson Isaac James Torres had at Fishstock 2009 sponsored by the City of Mount Airy, Opie’s Candy Store/Freddy Quesinberry and the NC Wildlife Commission. He is only 2 years old, but enjoyed lots of fun, food and swinging entertainment. Not to mention, all the fun my husband Shane and I had watching him.
I have to thank my sister Deborah Culler for sending that email with the information so we could enjoy that time with him. Special thanks to Kin Hodges and the NC Wildlife for the fishing tackle box with goodies that were provided so each child could have one. Thank you to Reeves Community Center for providing fishing poles for anyone to use. Thank you to Freddie Quesinberry of Opie’s Candy Store and his daughters, who made all the children feel special by making their photos even if they didn’t catch a fish. Thank you Catrina Alexander, City of Mount Airy’s Recreation Director, for putting on a spectacular event for the children and their family. She made a point to make everyone welcome. And also, thank you to Darren Lewis and Gary Felts with Reeves Community Center for all their hard work too.
Lastly it’s hard to say plus show in a letter how much fun we had, but it was fun for everyone. The music — from the young men’s group “Peace of Mind”, then followed by the old men (ha ha) “Midlife Crisis” — both bands were great and everyone seemed to enjoy them. Again, thank you so much for the wonderful day my husband and I got to spend with our grandson. “Well now, take down your fishing pole and meet me at the fishing hole” — Fun in Mayberry!!!
