Local youths seeking ways to spend their time this summer now have another option available: the Teen Power Hour program at Reeves Community Center.

Teen Power Hour is offered periodically by center officials to allow boys and girls ages 12 to 15 an opportunity to take part in a variety of activities stressing both fitness and fun.

The next version of the program begins Monday and will continue through Aug. 7. Teen Power Hour sessions will be conducted on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 4 to 5 p.m.

While sports are included, organizers emphasize that the program is geared toward both athletes and non-athletes, with individuals of all fitness levels welcome.

Participants can learn about and use free weights, strength machines and other exercise equipment while enjoying the experience of working out with friends.

In addition to fitness classes, cosmic cycling, stability ball and ab attack activities are planned.

Though it is aimed at increasing fitness levels, Teen Power Hour also will focus on fun. “Fun Friday” activities each week are to include Wallyball, basketball, disc golf, swimming, racquetball, a fitness scavenger hunt and more. Meanwhile, various sports drills will help youths improve their skills.

The cost of the program is $38 for city residents and $48 for non-municipal residents, with a 20-percent discount available to RCC members.

T-shirts and certificates will be given to all participants.

More information is available from Bradley Key at Reeves Community Center at 786-8313.
