Lester and Willie Poore, 126 Lynn Ave., Mount Airy, were married on June 11, 1949, in Franklin Heights United Methodist Church by the Rev. John Jordan.

They are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary today at a reception in the fellowship hall of Franklin Heights United Methodist Church. Hosting the celebration are their children, David and Susan Poore, Gina Poore and Trudy and Mickey Willard, all of Mount Airy.

They have five grandchildren, E.J. Poore, Lindsey Arnder, Zack Willard, Jordon Willard and Andrew Willard, and a stepgrandson, Jonathan Simmons and wife, Jennifer. Their great-grandchildren are Emma Grace Davis and Abi and Ella Willard and stepgreat-grandson is Jake Simmons.

Mr. Poore retired from Centel after 40 years of service. Mrs. Poore is a homemaker.
