I’m a veteran and a retiree, I’m closely watching the debate on national health care reform. It seems like everyone agrees that we need change, but the real fight is how are we going to pay for it.
One place to start is ending the nearly 20 percent overpayment that taxpayers give to big insurance companies to operate privatized Medicare Advantage plans. I think this money could be better used to help more people afford health care. I also have concerns about taxing employer-provided health care benefits. This would take away any incentive for employers to “do the right thing” by offering health care coverage to workers and retirees.
Americans of all ages desperately need help with their health care and they look to Washington to make the right decisions.
