STUART, Va. — Mr. Bruce Wayne Hill, 69, of Stuart, died Saturday, May 16, 2009. He was born in Surry County to the late Totsy and India Powell Hill. He had served in the Vietnam War and was retired from the Navy. He also owned Hills Post Yard in Stuart. Mr. Hill was also preceded in death by a son, Mark Hill; two sisters, Essie Badgett and Susie Gambill; and three brothers, Harry Hill, Herman Hill and Warren Hill. Surviving Mr. Hill are four daughters, Joyce Hanks of Elkin, N.C., Judy Biedrycki of Stuart, Rachel Dawn Preston of Raleigh, N.C., and Lisa Wilson of Stuart; a son, Larry Kight of Cody, Wyo.; 12 grandchildren; four sisters, Mildred Marsh of Mount Airy, Evelyn Wall of Mount Airy, Birdie Gwynn of Ararat and Nelda Fink of Virginia Beach; a brother, Kermit Hill of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and a special friend and partner, Myra Palinski. A memorial service for Mr. Hill will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with a flag presentation by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until time for the service. Burial will be private.
