- Rita Kay King, 55, of 5266 N.C. 268, Dobson, was served with a warrant Thursday on a felony larceny charge stemming from the theft of a wallet last month at Wal-Mart owned by Tina Celia Edwards of Ladonia Church Road. The wallet, which was stolen from Edwards’ purse, contained $700 in cash, a $1,200 check, a Surrey Bank & Trust debit card, a driver’s license and Social Security card, according to police records. King is free on a $2,500 secured bond and is to appear in Surry District Court on June 8.
- Christy Leighann Jessup, 22, of 2980 W. Pine St., was charged early Sunday with driving while impaired, careless and reckless driving and driving with license revoked after an accident on Linville Road at Banley Street. Jessup was transported by the Surry County EMS to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, where the charges were filed. She is facing a June 11 appearance in Surry District Court.
- Lisa Lynn Pumerantz of Dellwood Drive reported Saturday that a Nintendo video game console and games, valued altogether at $560, were discovered missing from a bedroom of her home after a friend of her daughter spent the night there. The case is listed as inactive.
- Also Saturday, Elizabeth W. Jackson of Toms Creek Church Road in Pilot Mountain reported that her wallet was stolen from her purse while she was at Wal-Mart. In addition to $200 in cash, the loss involved credit and debit cards, account numbers and a driver’s license. There was no information on a possible suspect, but the case remains open for further investigation.
- Police were told Saturday that items owned by Ricky Dean Jones of Siloam Road were stolen from an unlocked vehicle at Lowe’s Home Improvement. Included were miscellaneous tools, a guitar tuner, guitar string sets, guitar straps and a black-leather zippered bag, with the loss totaling more than $100. The case remains open for further investigation.
- A black-leather pocketbook belonging to Jacquelyn Ann Payne of Cone Lane was reported stolen Friday from The Salvation Army Thrift Store on North South Street. The purse contained $500 in cash, one personal checkbook from RBC Centura and First Citizens Bank checks drawn on the account of Friendly Tabernacle Church. The case is listed as closed, with all leads exhausted.
- Kathryn Joy Fields, 43, of 4813 Blakeshire Road, Greensboro, was cited for larceny Friday after allegedly taking items from Lowes Foods valued at $18. Fields’ court date is June 26. She also was banned from the store.
