DOBSON — The Surry County Board of Education will hold its next meeting on Monday at 5 p.m. at Copeland Elementary School.
The board will hear a presentation on agriculture in Surry County by Board Member Brian Gates. Members will also hear a presentation by Jill Reinhardt, director of CTE/technology, regarding the 1:1 laptop initiative. The school system has been invited to participate in the North Carolina Learning Technology Readiness Initiative funded by the Golden LEAF Foundation. Surry County is one of 14 districts participating in the initiative.
The board will also review a memorandum of agreement with the Surry County Board of Commissioners concerning the school system’s bid to purchase the Reece Building.
Board members will receive updates on instruction matters and school construction.
A number of people will be recognized at the meeting including wrestlers, grant recipients, science fair winners and administrative professionals.
