- A woman who allegedly had attempted to obtain a controlled substance by fraud in early April was arrested Tuesday at a local pharmacy in connection with a similar incident, according to the Mount Airy Police Department.

Officers encountered Kristie Lee Needham, 27, of 118 Sideview Lane, at Mount Airy Drug in reference to a false-pretense investigation, which led to her being taken into custody on an outstanding felony warrant issued on April 3. It alleges that Needham added medication onto a valid prescription and attempted to obtain it from Kerr Drug on Independence Boulevard that day.

Needham also was charged with a second felony count of attempting to obtain a controlled substance by forgery in connection with Tuesday’s incident at Mount Airy Drug. She is free on a $5,000 unsecured bond and is to appear in Surry District Court on May 28.

- Jim Junior Ceasar, 52, of 1252 Clemmonsville Road, Winston-Salem, turned himself in to city police Tuesday on an outstanding warrant on a charge of misdemeanor breaking and entering which had been filed on May 1, 2007, by an officer with the Surry County Sheriff’s Office. Ceasar was confined in the county jail under a $2,000 secured bond and is to appear in District Court in Dobson on Monday.

- Damage to property was reported Tuesday at a residence on Henri Street. Someone threw a rock at the home and broke a Plexiglas window, with total damage put at $60 to the window and pane. George Wright of Stone Mountain, Ga., is listed as the victim in the case, which remains open for further investigation.

- A vehicle owned by Stewart Heat and Air Services of East Bend was reported stolen Monday. The 2004 white Chevrolet Astro van apparently was taken sometime last weekend while parked on Newsome Street. In addition to the $8,000 vehicle, a Sanyo flip-style cell phone valued at $80 was listed as stolen. The case remains open for further investigation.

- A break-in was discovered Monday at the residence of Donnie Ray Wilson on North Main Street, where $3,500 in cash, a laptop computer and a 20-inch glass tube television set were reported stolen. The case remains open for further investigation.

- Property was reported stolen Monday from an unlocked vehicle owned by Elizabeth Diane Atkins while it was parked at her home on Maple Street. Various music CDs were taken along with Autolite spark plugs, with the loss valued at $160 altogether. The case is listed as inactive, with no leads to pursue at this time.

- Andrew Bailey Staples, 23, of 129 Emerald Lane, was arrested Monday on an outstanding warrant stemming from an alleged probation violation in Wilkes County in 2005, after being located in a vehicle stopped for a traffic violation on Rockford Street. Staples also allegedly gave a false name to police, resulting in a charge of resisting, obstructing or delaying a public officer. Staples was held in the Surry County Jail in lieu of a $1,000 secured bond and is to appear in court on May 18.

- Police recovered a stolen vehicle Sunday during a traffic stop on Pine Street near South Street. The owner of the 1995 Ford Crown Victoria, valued at $2,200, was identified as Carolyn Cates Greene of Herring Street. A check with a crime-information database confirmed the car was stolen, but there was no indication of charges being issued.

- Also Sunday, it was reported that someone had used an unknown object to damage a JCL scooter owned by Kristen Marie Brewer while it was at her residence on Virginia Street. The damage was estimated at $250. The case is listed as inactive, with no leads to pursue at this time.

- Sheila Kathryn Lopez, 24, of 167 Burgundy Road, was arrested Sunday night on a charge of assault and battery. Deborah Key Austin of the same address is the complainant. Lopez was confined in the Surry County Jail and is scheduled to appear in District Court on May 29.

- Dina Louise Galicia, a Pittman Street resident, reported Friday that a Glock 10mm handgun valued at $600 was stolen from the back seat of her car by a known individual. The case was still under investigation at last report.
