MOUNT AIRY — Mr. Lawrence Jenkins Lowe, 90, of Mount Airy, passed away Monday, April 20, 2009, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Lowe was born in Northfork, W.Va., May 10, 1918, to Charlie and Dony Snow Lowe. He was retired from Spencer’s Inc. after 50 years of service. Surviving are his dear wife, Dorothy Mae Ferguson Lowe of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Mary Lou Lowe of Mount Airy and Woltz and Betty Lowe of Glade Valley; grandchildren, Tony Lowe, Tracie Tate, Mary Ann Burgess and Hope Newsome; stepgrandchildren, Scott Badgett, Scott Carpenter, Jason Carpenter, Zachary Atkins, Leann Meyers and Britney Meyers; great-grandchildren, Courtney Lowe, Kelby Tate, Kinley Tate and Kancie Tate; stepgreat-grandchildren, Katelyn Badgett, Bailey Badgett, Jaden Badgett, Christopher Newsome and Jason Newsome; and a sister, Fannie Ramey of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lowe was preceded in death by a daughter, JoAnn L. Collins; a granddaughter, Robin Collins; a stepgrandson, Jason Badgett; and sisters, Annie Bryant, Eleanor Coalson and Mary Jane Faulkner. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 23, 2009, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Butch Holder. Burial will follow in Zion Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
